Bali, a small but world famous island known for its beauty and culture, is home to a population of addicts quite large for its size. Yet, help with acceptable standard is scarcely available. A few concerned individuals, both foreign nationals and Indonesians alike, who would like to contribute back to this island that they love, have pooled their resources and created YBN to provide professional, quality services for those that want it. In the month of November, 2003, this new foundation was made official, and now Bali has a new place for those individuals earnestly seeking recovery and positive change in their lives.

From the get go, the founders of YBN has envisioned the foundation as a platform to provide help to anyone suffering from the disease of chemical dependency in the island, regardless of their financial situation. The people supporting YBN consisted of both foreign nationals and Indonesian citizens, and they have agreed that those who cannot afford to pay for treatment should be helped as well, provided that they demonstrate a strong commitment to change.

YBN therefore does not discriminate on the basis of ethnic, religious, sexual preference, social or financial backgrounds. The foundation is committed to helping in the field of women's recovery as well, but as resources are limited, the plans for a women's recovery center will not be realized until adequate funding is accumulated.

In the future, YBN is aiming to educate the Indonesian people about the disease concept of chemical dependency, a dire need today as more and more addicts relapsed from the lack of knowledge about the chronic and progressive nature of their disease. Implications of these relapses are the booming HIV cases among the younger generation of Indonesia, an epidemic to be prevented at all cost. By serving as an educational center for chemical dependency as well as HIV/AIDS, YBN hopes to take part in the strengthening of the Indonesian society.
